The global economy could be benefited by investing in childhood skills

A recent publication from the World Economic Forum highlighted the following five skills that present-generation kids need to develop in order to be successful in the future: 1.  Creativity - The ability to solve problems in meaningful ways and to think imaginatively across disciplines. 2. Digital skills - The ability to master new forms of digital techs especially algorithm design and data handling. 3. Collaboration - The ability to work with others to perform a complex task and to adjust your actions in relation to other people's needs. 4. Global citizenship - A universal respect for people from other cultures and willingness to embrace diversity, equality, and inclusion. 5. Environmental Stewardship - Understandings of the fragility and finiteness of natural ecosystems and how we can interact with them in sustainable ways  Children's skills may contribute to their development into successful, well-rounded adults and may also contribute to the global economy, as well as cre

Bedtime stories Part-II

Having bedtime stories is part of both father and son's daily routine. I have told him hundreds of stories that relate to our culture, religion, geography, ancient age, medieval period freedom movement, film and music, science, and technology. I have many favorite stories, including Akbar and Birbal, Sri Krishna's childhood, Assamese Burhi Ai Xadhu, etc. Several times, I repeated the same stories. I also learned the essence of stories by doing some homework. YouTube is the most common platform for learning stories, and 80% of them come from that platform. The rest are from story books and anecdotes. The last couple of years, we have practiced bedtime rituals. I also message his legs and head during storytelling time. While traveling, I continue to maintain this ritual over the phone. Without listening to stories, his eyes would not close. It's a wonderful experience as a father. In addition to developing his brain rapidly, he became emotionally mature after eight and half y

Parental Belief: The Cornerstone of a Child's Self-Confidence Journey

Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believes first. The foundation of a child's self-belief is often rooted in the unwavering support and belief of their parents. Behind every young individual who develops a strong sense of confidence and self-assurance stands a parent who, with conviction and encouragement, believed in their child's potential long before the child could grasp it themselves. This parental faith acts as a guiding force, nurturing a child's self-esteem and fostering an environment where dreams are not only cherished but also attainable. The power of a parent's belief becomes the scaffolding upon which a child constructs their own aspirations, laying the groundwork for a future where self-confidence and resilience can flourish.

Experiences from Nature

Seeing much, suffering much, and studying much, are the three pillars of learning,  and pursuit of learning is the beauty of life. If someone ceases learning he seems to be equal to death.  Life is precious so every moment should be enjoyed with learning new thoughts and knowledge.  According to Earl Nightingale, "Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether its at work or with your family. every minute should be enjoyed and savored. Life in the conservation field is not monotonous . Once I was in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam to assess field situations day tonight. During the course of my work, I interviewed a few forest guards who are well-educated and spent inside the forest camps to protect the Greater one-horned rhinoceros and other wildlife. Then one forest guard replied that they never felt bored deep inside the

How to Encourage Your Child to Wake Up Early in the Morning

I always encourage my son to wake up early. I have early wake-up habit since my childhood.  During my childhood, I used to study, go to our paddy fields, or fishing in the early morning. Today, it is not possible for my child to indulge in the same activities as my childhood. Still, I am glad that my child wakes up early. I always make sure to get morning freshness and it boosts up my energy for a whole day.  I encouraged my child to wake early to maintain the same good habits from his childhood. He is always prepared to wake up early the night before.  I set some morning plans for him like a workout for 30 minutes, reading, and working in a small garden for a few minutes. Sometimes we counted birds around our backyard.  A gorgeous sunrise can sometimes be seen from an open space, and we are able to feel the greatness of the universe. As apparent I am doing it continuously. Sometimes I set free him to do as he like and he enjoys his own work schedule. This also helps us to avoid a mo

What can you do to reduce your child's stress on digital hour?

Human beings are highly adaptive in nature so they can able to adapt to the most comfortable regions to a dangerous situation on the earth. As such we are adapting to any situation and children are likely to show more compatibility. We should be rational to engage our children in digital hours. Limit their time and make things more enjoyable.  Give them some attractive work so they can enjoy the moment within four walls.  All parents should give quality time to their children.
